FAT CAT and other linocuts

Brief:

Before photography and print technology had made snapshots and scene of crime images possible newspapers relied upon illustrators to interpret and convey the story visually.

Illustrate stories from your local newspaper using LINOCUT as your medium.

Since I live in East London I have chosen The Advertiser as my source of exciting news;)

The set of 4 stamps is from a Bad Taste project and portrays historical figures, who had particularly strong relationships with their animal companions.

All of the linocuts were created in a traditional way without using any digital filters or other tricks. Everything was cut by hand and then printed using a relief printing press, oil-based heavy printing ink and a Fabriano printmaking paper.
